Systemic chemotherapy

Used on roughly 2 million new U.S. patients a year. It kills cancer cells, but circulates through the entire body — side effects patients can barely tolerate.

Intratumoral chemotherapy

Treating the tumor directly reduces systemic exposure, but alone it doesn't reach metastatic disease elsewhere, and remains highly toxic locally.

Intratumoral gene therapy

Promising for metastatic cancers, but delivery is inconsistent — tumors aren't uniform, and higher energy risks damaging the therapy before it works. This is the gap IntelliPulse is built to close.

Our solution

IntelliPulse®: a quantum advance for pulsed electrical fields

Electroporation uses a brief electric field to temporarily open pores in a cell's membrane. While open, a chemotherapy agent or therapeutic gene moves directly inside; afterward, the membrane reseals — the cell continues carrying its new payload, or does not survive at all.

Built on more than three decades of pulsed electrical field research, IntelliPulse packages that principle into one adaptive, multi-modal platform — with moderate heat, real-time impedance feedback, and addressable electrodes.

Drug Delivery

Used for intratumoral chemotherapy. Cells absorb the drug through temporarily opened pores and die from the drug's action shortly after.

Gene Delivery

Cells take up a therapeutic gene and go on to produce the therapeutic molecule that gene encodes — the mechanism behind LifePulse's human melanoma and pancreatic programs.

Ablation

Deliberate over-pulsation is used as irreversible electroporation, directly disabling targeted cells — for soft-tissue ablation and palliative care.

Why melanoma & pancreatic tumors first

Building on a growing body of electroporation research

LifePulse's human program builds on work by others advancing electroporation-based chemotherapy and gene therapy, including research from OncoSec, Inovio, Neon, IGEA, and ICHOR. Early Phase I results from Moffitt Cancer Center researchers using this class of approach have been encouraging, with treated lesions showing visible clearance while untreated lesions in the same patients persisted.

An NIH/NCI grant is directly funding LifePulse's veterinary melanoma animal study, providing early validation of the human-relevant science ahead of a formal clinical program.

The underlying science

What is reversible electroporation?

A brief electric field induces a voltage across the cell membrane. While active, the membrane temporarily opens — letting genes or drugs move inside. Push the pulse parameters further, past what the membrane can recover from, and the same mechanism becomes irreversible electroporation, used deliberately for tumor ablation.

Membrane reseals — the cell now carries its new payload.

A ~20-minute in-clinic procedure

Enhanced Molecular Delivery What is Electroporation diagram
  1. The therapeutic is injected intratumorally in linear retrotracing lines every 6mm from the mass perimeter, withdrawing the needle while injecting to saturate the tumor.
  2. Tissue temperature displays live during the heating phase; at 43°C the device beeps once — 30 seconds to pulse.
  3. The device pulses (two beeps), once or several times based on real-time tissue impedance feedback — never a single blind pulse.
  4. Three beeps signal the desired impedance drop is reached — maximum delivery achieved, move to the next area.
  5. Pulse roughly a 1cm margin around the tumor; once complete, cycle back for the next patient.

Our story

Founded on three decades of overlooked science

Gary Strange founded LifePulse Corporation in 2018, bringing more than 30 years of business leadership to a technology with roots in pulsed electrical field research dating back three decades. A combined 100+ years of collective research by the platform's founding scientists produced the patent portfolio LifePulse acquired in 2020 — just before pulsed electrical fields became one of the most closely watched technologies in biotech.

The company built its early commercial base in veterinary oncology through LifePulse Bioscience, the division producing revenue today, while laying the regulatory groundwork to bring the same platform to human patients.
